Frequently asked questions
Is Puckive really free?
Yes. Every feature — barcode scanning, pressing tracking, Discogs sync, CSV import, unlimited records — is free, with no subscription and no in-app purchases.
How do I add a record?
Open the Add tab. Under Identify you can scan a barcode or photograph a cover to look up the pressing, then choose Add to Library (or add it to your Wishlist). Under Import you'll find the Manual Form for entering a release by hand, plus bulk options.
Nothing is saved until you decide — tap Discard to throw a lookup away.
Barcode scanning isn't working. What can I do?
Scanning and cover-photo capture use your iPhone's camera, so first check that Puckive has camera access in Settings → Puckive → Camera. Make sure the barcode is well lit and fully in frame. If a barcode isn't recognised, try Choose Cover Photo to pick an existing photo, or enter the release with the Manual Form.
Lookups also need an internet connection.
How do I connect my Discogs account?
Go to Settings → Discogs Account, or Add → Import → Connect with Discogs. You'll sign in through a secure Apple web-authentication sheet — Puckive never sees your Discogs password. Connecting is optional: every other feature works without it.
How do I import my existing collection?
Once connected, Add → Import → Connect with Discogs imports your whole Discogs collection. You can also bulk-import a Discogs-style CSV/TSV export with Order Import, without connecting an account — you'll see a duplicate-analysis review screen before anything is committed. Order Import also accepts a pasted order-confirmation email, and you can share one from Mail or Safari using the iOS Share Sheet and choosing Puckive.
Does Puckive work offline?
Records already in your library stay available offline. Adding new records, fetching cover art, ratings and prices, and iCloud sync all need an internet connection.
Can two of my devices share the same collection?
Yes — sign in with the same Apple ID (and have iCloud enabled for Puckive) on both devices, and your collection syncs automatically through iCloud.
How do I change the default currency?
Settings → Defaults → Currency. It defaults to EUR.
Does the app collect any data?
Puckive has no ad SDKs, analytics SDKs or third-party trackers, and doesn't run its own servers. Your collection syncs only through your personal iCloud account, and there's no login or account of any kind. See the Privacy Policy below for the full picture, including what iCloud sync and metadata lookups involve.
Which devices and languages are supported?
iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Puckive is currently available in English only.
Can I send feature requests?
Please do. Puckive is built by a collector for collectors, and your feedback shapes what comes next. Email us using the button at the top of this section.
Privacy Policy
Puckive ("the app", "we") is a personal catalog for your vinyl and CD collection, built around data sovereignty: your library lives on your device and in your own private iCloud account — not on a server we run, because we don't run one.
We don't operate a Puckive server, so there's no central database of your collection to breach. We don't use ads, analytics SDKs or third-party trackers, and we never sell or share your data with advertisers. Your library syncs only through your own personal iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit.
What we collect
- Your collection data — artist, title, format, notes, cover photos and similar fields you enter or import — stored on your device and synced through your own private CloudKit database, scoped automatically to whichever iCloud account is signed into your device. Puckive has no login or account system of its own.
- A Discogs access token, only if you choose to connect a Discogs account. It is stored securely in your device's Keychain and used solely to import and sync your Discogs collection.
What we don't do
- Advertising & analytics
- Puckive contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs and no third-party trackers. It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Selling data
- We don't sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Our own servers
- We don't operate a server that stores your collection. It exists on your device and in your own iCloud account, which we cannot access.
Metadata lookups
To show cover art, prices and community ratings, Puckive sends search terms — an artist name, a title or a scanned barcode — to Discogs, MusicBrainz (and the Cover Art Archive), iTunes and Last.fm. These are read-only lookups of public release information, and your identity is not attached to them. Each provider's own privacy policy governs what they log on their end.
Camera and photos
Puckive uses the camera to scan barcodes and photograph covers, and the photo library only when you choose a cover photo. Images are used to look up the release and as cover art in your own library; they are not sent to us.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts, and collects no personal data.
Apple App Store
Puckive is free with no in-app purchases, so no payment information is ever collected by us. Downloading the app is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Children's privacy
Puckive is a general-audience app for record and CD collectors and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your control over your data
Your collection lives in your own iCloud account. Deleting a record in Puckive removes it from your device and your iCloud. Signing out of iCloud or deleting the app removes what's stored locally. You can disconnect Discogs at any time in the app's settings.
